Ramon Goose teams up with Senegalese kora player Diabel Cissokho to present a new project which combines the beauty of West African music with the soul of the Blues.

Senegalese musician Diabel Cissokho is part of a griot family of musicians with a rich musical heritage. Growing up in Dakar he started off performing on a number of different traditional instruments in his family’s band. However, his particular talent and affinity for the kora, which he started playing at the age of 9, was obvious from the beginning. Having chosen London as his European base he was, for close to three years, the kora player for the internationally renowned Baba Maal and has supported and played with numerous other artists in concert venues and festivals across the world. These include Nuru Kane, Daby Balde, Abdou Diop, Kandia Kouyate and Mama Draba. He also participated in a special concert at the Barbican in London, performing alongside Femi Kuti and his band as well as Cheikh Lo and Manu Dibango. Diabel’s virtuosic talent, as well as the expressiveness and sensitivity of his playing has brought him much respect amongst his fellow musicians, who cross many genres of music from traditional African, to jazz and Afro-beat. Currently he is working on his own material in which he fuses his love of traditional and world music, taking inspiration from his heritage and from his faith in Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Bamke (Mouride).

Whether performing as part of an acoustic blues/gospel trio or as an electric blues band, Ramon Goose strives to bring both sophistication and soul to his music. Ramon Goose was born in England and started out with British band Nublues as guitarist, chief song writer and producer. The band toured worldwide in support of their albums “Dreams Of A Blues Man” and “Snow On The Tracks” (released on Dixiefrog Records in Europe, 21st Century Blues Records in New Orleans, USA and published by Metisse Music) Ramon has toured all over Europe with the likes of Eric Burdon, The Blind Boys of Alabama and has performed with James Brown’s bandleader Pee Wee Ellis. After a short stint with American bluesman Eric Bibb’s band, Ramon went on to produce, perform on and co-write critically acclaimed albums for Boo Boo Davis (Mississippi Blues artist) and Billy Jones (based in Arkansas) both on the Black and Tan Records label. Recent projects have included performing alongside Hilaire Chaby-Hary (Baaba Mal) & other West African Musicans.

Le musicien sénégalais Diabel Cissokho possède un riche héritage musical, étant issu d’une famille de musiciens griots. Il a grandi à Dakar et sa carrière de musicien a démarré dans le groupe familial, où il jouait différents instruments traditionnels.
Le talent et l’affinité particulière qu’il a développée avec la kora se sont manifestés dès qu’il a commencé à en jouer à l’âge de 9 ans. Il y a trois ans, Diabel a choisi Londres comme ville d’attache européenne . Il y est le joueur de kora attitré de la star internationale Baaba Maal, et s’implique aux côtés d’autres artistes comme Nuru Kane, Daby Balde, Abdou Diop, Kandia Kouyate et Mama Draba un peu partout dans le monde. Lors d’un concert spécial donné au Barbican de Londres, il a accompagné Femi Kuti, Cheikh Lo et Manu Dibango. La virtuosité de Diabel, son expressivité et la sensibilité de son jeu lui valent le respect unanime de ses pairs ; ils croisent les genres musicaux sur une palette qui s’étend de la musique traditionnelle africaine jusqu’au jazz et à l’Afrobeat. Il aime ainsi exprimer son amour pour la musique traditionnelle et la ‘world music’, en s’inspirant de son héritage et de sa foi en Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Bamke (cheikh fondateur de la confrérie Mouride).

Qu’il joue dans un trio acoustique blues/gospel ou dans un blues band électrique, Ramon Goose s’efforce d’apporter de la sophistication et de l’esprit à sa musique. Ramon est né en Angleterre ; il a commencé sa carrière musicale en tant que producteur, guitariste, et compositeur principal du groupe anglais Nublues. Le groupe a fait le tour du monde pour présenter leurs albums « Dreams Of A Blues Man » et « Snow On The Tracks » (sortis sur Dixiefrog en Europe et sur 21st Century Blues Records aux USA). Ramon a aussi joué aux côtés d’Eric Burdon, The Blind Boys of Alabama ou encore Pee Wee Ellis pendant leurs tournées européennes. Après un passage dans le groupe du bluesman américain Eric Bibb, Ramon s’est tourné vers la production, la co-composition et la participation musicale pour les albums acclamés par la critique des bluesmen Boo Boo Davis Billy Jones, signés sur le label Black and Tan Records. Ses plus récentes collaborations ont été aux côtés de Baaba Mal et d’autres artistes d l’Afrique de l’Ouest.
